Job description
As Quality Control Analytical Chemist, you will perform routine QC release and stability testing for pharmaceutical products under cGMP. Core work includes preparing samples and standards, executing HPLC and GC analyses, documenting results to data integrity (ALCOA+) standards, and supporting investigations as needed. You’ll collaborate with QC, Stability, and Documentation teams to ensure timely testing, compliant records, and right-first-time execution.
Key responsibilities
- Execute compendial and validated methods for HPLC and GC (system suitability, injections, sequence setup, integration, basic troubleshooting).
- Perform sample preparation, solution and mobile phase preparation, and column care per SOPs.
- Conduct stability pulls and testing per protocol; record data, calculate results, and flag OOS/OOT or atypical trends.
- Follow GMP, GLP, GDP, and EHS requirements;
- Support sample management, inventory of reagents/standards, and laboratory housekeeping/5S.
- Communicate testing status and issues to the QC Supervisor/Lead to meet release and stability timelines.
Nice-to-have exposure
- Ion Chromatography (IC) and/or ICP (ICP-OES/ICP-MS).
- Familiarity with ICH Q1A stability principles and compendia (USP/EP).
- Education: BSc in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related field (minimum).
- Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on QC laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical industry (preferred). Non-pharma experience may be considered for strong junior profiles.
- Technical skills:
- Proficient with HPLC and GC method execution and basic troubleshooting.
- Competent in solution prep, calculations, and good volumetric technique; understands system suitability and data review basics.
- Working knowledge of CDS (e.g., Empower/Chromeleon) and LIMS/ELN; solid MS Office skills.
- Quality & compliance: Practical understanding of cGMP/GLP/GDP, data integrity, OOS/OOT handling, and documentation best practices.
- Soft skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable; clear written/verbal communication; ability to follow SOPs precisely and deliver to tight timelines in a team setting.
- Work conditions: Able to work onsite in Cambridge, ON full-time.
Expected Compensation Range: 60K-70K
The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.

No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
